“Transition” is all about making the transition from the era of plentiful, cheap oil to a new, different future. In our current unsustainable, high carbon economy, we face the twin threats of peak oil and climate change. A more attractive future will be based on localisation of food and energy, the development of robust local economies which use renewable resources, and the growth of strong community links. People will learn new skills and share and co-operate, making life happier for us all.
This workshop will begin with a PowerPoint slide show looking at the energy issues of our time, and the huge changes that lie ahead.
There will be information about the developing Transition movement in Cornwall.
Participants will then work in groups, sharing ideas about a vision for a changed future, looking at environmental, social and economic aspects.
Each person will then develop an embryonic personal action plan for their own transition.
Jess Clynewood - Introduction to Permaculture.
"Jess has studied permaculture with Patrick Whitefield, Sarah Pugh and the Brighton Permaculture Trust, and has worked on permaculture projects in New Zealand, Czech Republic and Ecuador, as well as in the UK. She is actively involved with the Transition Towns movement and community food projects in Brighton as well as working to establish a sustainable community and resource/education center on a 15 acre site in the beautiful Welsh hills. In the workshop she will introduce the ethics and principles of permaculture and explore how these are as applicable to the individual as to the global community, as well as looking into specific examples of whole system analysis and how this can be used to guide decision making."
